Chapter Eight

Ryder

The new client G.H. hadn’t called with a location that day and Ryder was glad that he didn’t. He was enjoying his time with Tempest and wanted to stretch it out a little longer.

That sounded crazy to him. How could the girl who almost made him shove chopsticks into his ears a few days ago have grown on him so much?

But he knew why. She was amazing.

Everything about her. She always made him laugh with her silliness, playfulness, and unfailingly positive attitude. Her clumsiness that was once an annoyance was now an endearing character trait that he adored and he loved how he never knew what she was going to say. Ever.

And it didn’t hurt that she was gorgeous to look at. He kept stealing glances at her every chance he got and watching her through the reflections in mirrors, metal chairs, windows and of course, the toilet paper holder.

Not only had she invaded his life, but she had also invaded his mind. He thought about her constantly and even dreamed about her when he was sleeping.

Last night he had woken up after dreaming that his lion had bonded to her and watched her sleep for an hour. An hour!

Shit, he was broken.

As feared, this girl had made him lose his mind. Just not in the way he thought she would.

“Ready?” Ryder was in the living room of his cabin, sitting against the bathroom door with his handcuffed arm hooked over his head on the other side of the door. He was getting pretty used to it. Normally, she made him wear these big noise canceling headphones that blared 90’s pop music from her iPod whenever she was in the bathroom, but she was only putting her bathing suit on this time so he wasn’t forced to listen to Hit Me Baby One More Time again. Thank God.

“Ready,” she said as she swung the door open.

Ryder gulped as he looked up at her. She was wearing the world’s sexiest white bikini and it took him everything he had not to rip it off her beautiful body.

“Take a picture it will last longer,” she said with a grin.

“Let me get my camera.”

She laughed and tugged the handcuffs as she walked past him. Her round ass passed by his face, making him instantly hard.

Fuck. This girl… She wasn’t just a bounty hunter—she was a real killer.

“Let’s go, Mr. Perv,” she said, pulling him to his feet.

It was about three in the morning and hot as shit in Ryder’s cabin. They tossed and turned and neither of them could fall asleep so they decided on a late night swim to cool off.

So far, he wasn’t getting any cooler. He was heating up.

They walked outside in the warm night, looking up at the gazillion stars overhead. He turned the pool lights on and they lit up in a turquoise glow, giving the place a sexy atmosphere. Tempest dipped her toe in the water as Ryder lit the tiki torches. He turned some soft music on—Monster by Mumford and Sons.
